Funding Benefits:
As the Journalism program continues to grow, great things lie ahead.

One of the Grizzly Gazette’s Editor-in-chief, Haylie Adame states, “My hope is that for the future Grizzly Gazette to possibly go on more field trips to see what Journalists do in this day in age. I would also love to see giveaways on our Instagram and more outreach for people to join.”

Raising money for this program helps the future of Golden Valley’s school newspaper. It creates opportunities for resources, promotions, and relevancy. Most importantly, it allows us to have valuable experiences at student journalists conferences. This not only helps improve the Grizzly Gazette, but possible future careers.

Journalism teacher, Abigail Maimone, shares her input for the Grizzly Gazette’s future based on funding, “As our first ever fundraiser as a program, I am really hoping this money can be a catalyst to provide our students the opportunity to get out in the community. Hopefully we will be able to attend events such as the ‘Southern California Journalism Education Association’ student conference. We were able to go our first year as a program in San Francisco and it really allowed us to grow and build the foundation we’re working off of now.”

Every Purchase Counts! Whether you donate, buy one bag, or spread the news about this fundraiser, it’s all greatly appreciated by the Grizzly Gazette.

The Double Good Online Popcorn fundraiser ends on Thursday March 28th at 5:00pm and can be accessed here!

About the Contributor
Sophia Marks, Staff Writer
I'm Sophia Marks, a senior here at Golden Valley and a staff writer for the CePAT news team. Outside of journalism, I had a very full schedule. I've been involved in sports since I was 12, and competed with GV’s varsity softball my freshman and sophomore year. Since then, I have been working alongside GV athletics as a head sports medicine student. I was a co-founder of both the sports medicine club, and the sports medicine program at GV. Aside from the medical field, I'm passionate about LGBTQ+, writing, music, and sports because of their evolving discussions and new beginnings. As a student journalist, I'm excited to write about events surrounding uncomfortable topics in order to bring awareness and share these stories. Being a journalist, you have power in your writing, and are given the opportunity to bring a light to your articles. After high school, I have plans to major in biology and earn my BS, then continue my education in grad school.
