Ballet Folklórico de Oro Needs You!
Golden Valley club Ballet Folklórico de Oro is looking for new members to join them for the 2023-2024 school year. There is no requirement to join and is counted under Physical Education credit as well.
“The only thing needed is the passion to learn about a different culture and dance,” says advisor Juanita Rojas. Considering the large population of Hispanic students on campus, Ballet Folklórico can be an opportunity to learn more about one of the most common cultures at Golden Valley as well.
Ballet Folklórico del Oro is a type of music, dance, and costume which highlights several cultures and regions throughout Mexico. There are multiple types of folklórico dance styles and the history is learned through the dance as well.
The bright dresses paired with the classic flowers have been seen around campus from rallies, to personal performances in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month back in September.
Attempting to establish a second year after their 2022-2023 school year debut the club is reaching out to any student to join the program. There have been a few students this year who have joined with no prior experience of the dance form and have improved tremendously, “They now look like professionals!” says Mrs. Rojas
Though logistics are still in the works, there will be a class period scheduled sometime before lunch. “It’s really nice to see people come and watch our dances” Says president Delia Villanueva Rojas
The group will perform at several events and cultural events throughout the year at Golden Valley. They also perform at local elementary and junior high schools.
Not only is joining a club a great way to meet new people, but the skills and culture learned from joining will enrich the Golden Valley experience. Since the 2022-2023 school year is coming to an end, Ballet Folklórico should be something on your next schedule. Talk to your counselor to sign up now!
