Hi! I am Nex Gutierrez and I am the Editor in Chief alongside
Ines Han.This year has been one of many surprises and new experiences. This is the first time I’ve had such a high position and so much responsibility in one go. It has been wonderful working with all of the editors and writers of all of the articles in the article pool. We have done things differently this year since we have been trying to have a printed newspaper. It sure was one challenge that had to be overcome by working with everyone together. The cooperation between everyone has gotten us to this point and if I say so myself, it has all gone magnificent. The progress made in this first half of the year has been going smoothly and everyone integrated a part into their work, making the efforts so much more worthwhile.
Since this is the first print, we hope there to be more times over these next quarters. We hope to release another print by early next semester, so don’t feel like we stop once the deadline has hit. We work until what we believe our best will be sent out to the public, and that is that.

When I joined this class, I would never have imagined that I would be a part of something that has never once been done in the history
of our school, nor would I have guessed that I would be a fundamental gear in this project. Though most of this operation was only possible by the help and support of our amazing advisor, Ms. Maimone, the creative minds that fuelled the newspaper as a completed work were our student writers. Their brilliant ideas helped in developing a school newspaper that we were proud of and wanted to share to the community. In retrospect, it really is remarkable that we were able to run the Grizzly Gazette without much of a hitch in the road, because every single one of us is new to this. And without more than four months of experience as a student journalist, I can firmly say that I am glad I joined. There is nothing more freeing than writing one’s passions out and sharing it to the world, and nothing
more exciting than seeing the influence those words have on the public. And as I begin my path as co-editor in chief of the Grizzly Gazette, I hope you all enjoy this new edition of GV’s first print newspaper, and await the future editions to come.
