As the final bell rings and students stream out of classrooms, one question often arises: Where are we going after school? For many high schoolers at Golden Valley, the answer lies in a handful of popular local spots that have become go-to destinations to relax, grab a bite, or hang out with friends.
One of the coziest and most frequently visited locations is San Fernando Coffee Company. Located conveniently near campus, this café offers a welcoming atmosphere, perfect for sipping iced lattes or catching up on homework. Its spacious seating, local art, and upbeat playlists make it a favorite for students looking to wind down or fuel up after a long school day.
For those craving something heartier, Chipotle continues to be a top pick. Known for its customizable burritos and bowls, the fast-casual chain is a reliable choice for a quick, satisfying meal. “It’s super convenient, and I can get something different every time,” says junior Lana Adaoag.
If a sweet treat is in order, students head to Crumbl Cookies. With its rotating weekly menu of unique cookie flavors like churro, brownie batter, or classic chocolate chip, Crumbl has become a post-school staple. “It’s kind of a reward after a long day,” shares senior Jocelyn Antonio.
The Westfield Valencia Town Center Mall also draws crowds of students. Whether they’re shopping, grabbing boba at It’s Boba Time, or catching a movie at the Edwards Theater, the mall offers a variety of ways to relax and socialize.
Finally, Target is more than just a shopping stop. With Starbucks inside, wide aisles for browsing, and endless snack options, it’s a surprisingly fun place to spend time with friends. “We don’t always buy things; we just walk around and hang out,” says sophomore Jaden Gutierrez.
Whether you’re in the mood for caffeine, comfort food, cookies, or just a place to chill, there’s no shortage of after-school hangouts to explore.
