Georgia O’Keeffe, an American artist, grew up on a Wisconsin farm. After high school, with her heart set on being an artist she studied art and painting techniques in Chicago and New York. She also studied Arthur Wesley Dow’s ideas, prompting her to explore abstraction and abstract forms in nature. The subjects she primarily painted were landscapes, flowers, and bones, showcased in paintings over years and even decades. She specialised in large-format paintings that displayed huge enlarged flower blossoms. She drew inspiration from her life experience and her images often related to places where she lived in some way.
