Do you think school spirit is important? Well, many golden valley students do, so stick around to find out why.

When we see our fellow students dress up we feel that support and we get more motivation to do better because we have that extra energy to give you guys our all.

Students that have gone to the games have shared their opinions on why school spirit is important. Two of the star players on GV’s football team tell what it means to them when they see students dressed up for the games. They express why it is important to them. ASB students have also shared their opinion and how to participate more so let’s get into it.

Donteo Williams, a player on the Varsity team, has shared that, “When we see our fellow students dress up we feel that support and we get more motivation to do better because we have that extra energy to give you guys our all.” Teo feels extra confidence when he’s on the field because he looks up to see students actually showing their school spirit and moral support.

I have also talked to our linebacker, Malachi Beacham. When asked how he feels when he sees students dressed up for the game, he answered “ It gets me hyped and excited to play and I know the other guys on the team feel the same, When we look up and have a good crowd. “ It is clear they value that extra love and appreciate it when they see students dressed up when we may see it as something little. It gives them that extra pep to their step! They feel more motivated to do better and give their all into the game. They feel the support on their back from their classmates.

The people who give us the opportunity to dress up and show our school spirit are none other than ASB. ASB takes time out of their day to create something special for us students. Because of the ASB team, students are able to rock out and show our school spirit! They have an instagram that they update students on what outfits to wear and extra ways to show our love and support for the school and games.

Jacob Grijalva, from the ASB crew, stated that, “School is not the funnest place to be but when you have the opportunities to dress up and show off your school spirit with your friends it gives you something to look forward to.” Jacob was asked what everybody can do to show more school spirit. He answered, “By following The ASB spirit clothing ideas that we post on our instagram @gvhsasb!” It’s all for the fun of it, students, let’s start showing some more spirit!

Looking at the football players and ASB’s opinion, the benefits, importance, and value of school spirit is clearly seen. Hope to see you all at the next game dressed up!
